Hello, everyone! It's new Juice with Junior! I know! It's crazy. I went away to have an acute depressive episode find an apartment, and it ended up taking me like 3 months! Well, that's all in the past as I'm back and ready to celebrate the holidays. All that's coming up. Consider this the "soft" opening... although there's nothing soft about today's Sunday Swoon! HEYYYOOO!
We're still solely focusing on gay men until the end of the year to celebrate gay pride and Blu Kennedy (above) is a prime example of a beautiful, proud gay man. Some background: Kennedy is a former gay porn actor whom after working in the industry for 8 years retired in October to be a boring regular person again. I, of course, was extremely saddened by this news because A) he's gorgeous B) he's a ginger and you know how I feel about gingers and C) he was one of the few versatile gay personal entertainment video performers who actually seemed to convey enjoyment in his acting scenes.
We're gonna talk about this at more length in an upcoming post but I am seriously concerned that the world of gay porn (I've been reading this fantastic book called Bigger Than Life that I urge everyone, not just porn enthusiasts, to read. Verrrry interesting.) is turning into a sea of tattooed, slack-faced, limp, he-beasts that are so bored/stoned/wanting-this-to-be-over that I literally fell asleep watching a recent video, um, recently. Kennedy was better than all that.
Last thing, in a quote about his retirement, Kennedy lamented that "[Porn] also has been an issue with almost every boyfriend. It’s a complicated issue. It usually starts out that they are aware that I have done porn, and that doesn’t bother them. But then, over time, they begin to see how people interact with me and treat me, and that I’m constantly getting attention, and eventually they have disdain for anything to do with that part of my life."

"Bigger Than Life" tells a fascinating story, but it's kinda dry for such a sordid topic. But until a juicier history of gay porn comes along it's def worth the read! So much history I didn't know about, from Andy Warhol's blue films to The Boys In The Sand.
Also: hot ginger is hot.
It's funny because I kind of like the clinical nature of the book. To me, I don't want to romanticize gay porn too much because there's an awful side so I like that the book is very "Just the facts, ma'am"... However, when someone writes a sordid gay porn tale, u know I'll be there with bells on...
