Forget Madonna and Gaga... I Think XTina Is Drawing From Another Source of Inspiration in Her New Video...

Today, everyone is talking about Christina Aguilera's new video for her single "Not Myself Tonight" and how XTina seems to have drawn from people like Lady Madge and Lady Gaga for inspiration. But has she also turned to another source for inspiration? Let's consult the evidence...

Exhibit A:

A still from the "Not Myself Tonight" video (above).

Exhibit B:

Montana Moorehead (above).

The defense rests!

Seriously people, I will find a way to work in a "SoapDish" reference into the blog AT ANY TIME. You never know when it's gonna happen!

Now, what other influences do you see in XTina's new video (click name above to watch)?

I see a little Annie Lennox from the
"I need a Man" persona. And an ode to Freedom by Georgie Micheal
I also see her referencing herself with all the dirty touchin' and feelin' and dippin' low. It's almost too much, in her next video she will just squat and urinate violently on a shiny latex floor. Too much indeed.

Ermine, I almost shot out my drink reading that last line! LOL TO INFINITY! I'm certain that that's what she'll prolly do for her next video!

I also see your inspirations too... Was it too much to come up with something different? Or did she want people watching calling her a copy cat just to get people to pay attention...

I find it interesting that almost all critics fail to mention that next to the clip being derivative, the song itself is really quite awful. I actually didn't mind the borrowed imagery that much (I even sort of enjoyed the high-heeled SM look, even though it was full-on Madonna "Human Nature" by way of Beyonce's "Green Light" video). But Christina, honey...the song? BAAAAD! You're back to screaming again, and who wrote those awful lyrics? "Cause I'm doing things that I normally won't do
The old me's gone I feel brand new
And if you don't like it **** you!"

Really?

Sad...

Amen BeeJay. XTina threw in all the madness and scandal to cover up a really lame song. Her smoke and mirrors job is not worthy of her. She, unlike many pop stars, can actually sing. She didn't need to go this route.

With that said, if I was on the set of that video, I would have been a clothes-stealing bitch.

Hi Beejay... I totally agree with you that if you had the time and resources that Christina had, to come back with this song is sad and strange. How rote, how boring! I mean when Madonna did "Human Nature" at least the song was a sound that we never heard from her before, this is just standard. It'll do well but who will remember it?

Hey Allan... What outfit exactly would you steal? And what would we be doing in it.... teehee!

All of it Jun. Because, like Madonna, I too like to reinvent myself.

I think im the only one goin to say that, that particular scene from Not Myself Tonight is very Carrie Bradshaw! Love it!! And i dont understand this Gaga comparison, just because shes wearing pvc lingerie? So thankful shes just so beautiful that will always distinguish them 2 for a start!

Say it Pradalicious! I also feel the Carrie Bradshaw connection. It's subtle, but it's there! And no you didn't about Gaga, she may not be beautiful but she sure knows how to work it better than XTina is!

And thank you for gracing us with your fabulous presence on this here blog! I'm following you on Twitter now too!
