I seriously cannot even believe I'm typing this sentence. Brittany Murphy, star of one of my favorite movies ever made... a movie I can literally recite word for word at a moment's notice (that is not an exaggeration) "Clueless" has died at age 32 due to an believed cardiac arrest. I've been out all day and my bestie told me and my jaw was literally unhinged for a full minute. I am stunned and incredibly saddened by her death.
Not only did I love "Clueless," but her turn in "Girl, Interrupted" was completely award worthy. To top it off, I never have ever seen a single bad interview with a poor attitude with Murphy. She was always bright and bubbly and seemed to be a very warm soul. I know it's also limiting to say, but she was Tai! She was that pretty girl in an awkward shell that we could all relate to. In another actresses' hands, it may have seemed weird that Cher would have taken Tai under her wing, but with Murphy in the part, you understood why. She was like a friend in your head.
It's so sad that she's gone. Enjoy the brief clip above and tell me, what's your favorite Murphy moment? There are more than you think...

Mini Me told me about this and I think my jaw was dropped for about the same amount of time. Loved her in 'Girl, Interrupted' and of course 'Clueless'. Can't think of a fav moment but her portrayal in Girl was powerful and she was on set for a very short time according to James Mangold. *sigh* Sad sad sad...
I know Pom, so sad. And I just remembered that she was in "Drop Dead Gorgeous," which I saw in theaters on a double bill with "The Sixth Sense." Talk about a strange moviegoing night. Anyway, when she gives Kirsten Dunst her outfit and says "C'mon Amber, we both know I wasn't gonna win." it was so sweet!
Adored her. So sad. She was awesome in everything. Really enjoyed her in Sin City.
I know Allan, she was a bright fun talent. Very sad...
Hey, I'm late in replying as I was on a mini-pc break for the holidays...but this shocked me. Correction. This still shocks me.
I think she was the movie 8 Mile. Without her, the movie was just ok.
What I most liked about her was that you felt her characters emotions. Like in Little Black Book, you felt her embarassment and sadness. In Clueless, you felt her awkwardness. Few actresses are able to make you feel what they are acting.
I know Dani, she really did make you feel for her characters which is why she was successful. It is such a great loss...
