My Top 5: Favorite Michael Jackson Songs
I think everyone can agree that this will go down in history as one of the worst entertainment news days ever. So I'm not even in shock anymore. I'm am completely stunned silent. I have no words. Anyway, I was actually in the process of planning a post about Farrah Fawcett (which will appear next week) when I heard the stunning news. That Michael Jackson (above) had died at the age of 50 due to a cardiac arrest.
I don't even know what...
I mean, he's Michael Jackson. I don't care about all the stories and rumors and chatter. He's still Michael Jackson. He's still by far the biggest, most known, most successful person in the entertainment world ever. And he was so young.
Now today we were supposed to talk about summer songs, and I was tempted to go ahead and do that because you're going to be hearing about Michael Jackson's death nonstop for the next weeks and months, but as he was so influential to music and entertainment, I had to change the post. So here are My Top 5: Favorite Michael Jackson Songs. As a way to remember his tireless commitment to entertainment through decades: 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s. No other artist has or will achieve this.
Let's begin. (p.s. remember links worked when I posted them. If they don't when you see this post, just do a search. I'm sure you'll find plenty of music from him you love).

I did want to say that as this is not only Michael's song, but from the Jackson 5, I also have to think about his brothers and the rest of his large family. My thoughts go out to all of them as they handle this sudden and difficult time.
That's all. I left off my usual descriptions because I have nothing else to say. There is nothing not sad about this. Now what are your favorite Michael Jackson songs?

Junior, I cannot even begin to tell you how devastated I am by his death. I was in tears last night when I hear and I'm still sitting here at work, shocked and incredibly sad. He was by far my favourite male singer ever. Today's group of pop artists, imitations of MJ, owe their careers to him.
He was my generations Elvis Presley or John Lennon, but better than that. My aunt (who is close to me in age) has a Halloween picture of us...she was madonna and I was mj...complete with wite glove and white socks and red jacket.
And although he lived an eccentric life in his later years, I never ONCE thought he did anything wrong to the children he was alledged to have wronged. People have a tendancy when they hear things to assume the worst or most sinister.
He will so greatly be missed my me. I only pray that history will judge him for his music, and not his personal life. Because say what you will...he was Michael Jackson. He was a visionary for a generation that needed a voice.
That being said, love your song slections. But I must insist you add Man In the Mirror to that list.
I'm so depressed over this. Like, probably way more than I should be for a relatively sane 20-something. PYT is one of my favorites, too. And Dirty Diana. And The Way You Make Me Feel..... I could go on!

I totally forgot about Dirty Diana. Yah, that song was great too.
I've been speechless and numb for almost 18 hours now. I can't keep my mind from going back to watching him do the moonwalk for the first time, seeing the Thriller video, and amazement that he never rested on his laurels in regard to his art but always managed to jump the bar even when I thought he couldn't do any better than his last.
Songs? Um. Smooth Criminal, Dirty Diana, Black and White, Remember the Time, and We are the World. Though there is a span of time in my life when he was the soundtrack and the only one I can really remember.
Agree with everything from all you guys. MJ was troubled sure, although nothing was ever proven and it would seem to me that if he was such a perv like haters say, something would have stuck through the years. I think he was more confused about his place in life and wanted to regress more than anything.
Anyway, I am still too incredibly sad about this. I wasn't planning on going, but I was excited to hear about the concerts and I believe they said he was going to work on more music (maybe I'm projecting my dreams onto what I read) and I was so ready for it because regardless MJ has made some of the best music of anyone...
I'll have a more complete thing up next week, I just thought a little music might help.
